Known for her calligraphy/fashion crossover in recent years, the renowned Taiwanese artist calligrapher Yang-tse Tong (董陽孜) curated another “From Ink to Apparel” exhibition (5/8-5/23) at Taipei’s Huashan 1914 Creative Park. The theme of the exhibition centered on the generative power of language in the visual art form of Chinese calligraphy and in fashion. The exhibition features five much sought-after contemporary Taiwanese fashion designers whose futuristically imaginative and culturally interpreted apparel designs are effectively having trans-media dialogues with Tong’s mold-breaking Chinese Calligraphy.
